Back From Solent 40k Tournament

Just got back home after a great weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed my 6 games against top opponents. I will be writing up a Battle rep at some point for the lot in one go or maybe over two posts. Depends if I can be bothered lol.

I took my Grey Knights, which is slightly tougher to play with at 1500pts, and I also took a strange list. Here it is:

Coteaz: 100pts

5x Purifiers: 199pts
2 Psycannons, 2 Halberds, 1 Hammer. Razorback with Twin-linked Heavy bolter & Psybolts.

5x Strike Marines: 161pts
1x Psycannon, Razorback with Twin-linked Heavy bolter, Searchlights & Psybolts.

7x Henchmen: 107pts
3x Acolytes & 4x Psykers. Chimera with hull heavy bolter.

3x Henchmen: 62pts
3x Acolytes. Razorback with Twin-linked Heavy bolter & Psybolts.

Dreadnought: 135pts
Two Twin-linked Autocannons & Psybolts.
Dreadnought: 135pts

Dreadnought: 135pts
Two Twin-linked Autocannons & Psybolts.

Total: 1500pts

Yeah boy, Psykers in there aswell. How did they fare? Not too bad, almost always made their points back. Only had to kill like 2-3 marines after all lol. It really is a feeble list in comparison to the 1750 list, but still none the less it's relatively solid.

Played against 2 Dark Eldar players, 1 Space marine, 1 Grey Knight & 2 Blood Angels (Mephiston of course). Great time and would certainly recommend it to those who live nearby by for a solid 40 man tourney (well 37 in this case...nice one DAMIAN lol).

Oh and I came 1st for those wandering :) Won a KR Alluminium Multi-case & a Battle force of my choosing. Sweet :D

  4. I quite like the mini-pbs-esque squad I have to say, I'd probably add 1 more personally to get that S7/AP2 (1750 not 1500 - points @ a premium there - I really struggled with my 1500 list for this, despite not going).

I actually quite like the whole squad set up there, like I've said before I am not the biggest fan of the 3xdudes - so with 7 there, at least there is a bit more staying power.

  6. Thanks guys :)

Unlucky Cerri, was a bad match up for you but a fun gane. Your ravager and wracks refused to die but the wytches seemed to die even when I looked at them lol.

Yeh the psykers are a bit of fun bully. I would recomend going for the ap2, certainly an option.

  7. Working on my list now (and actually making it ...) currently 33 points over, which simply enough might be dropping the purifiers into rhino's - which is something I was 50/50 on anyway - as in my games I've found there is times where I have them down to 1 or 2 psycannons and just want to shove them somewhere - other 3 points would just be drop a aco.

Otherwise it would be reduce the size of the DCA unit.

  8. Got a test game in with my list today. Psykers impressed me. It was against a terrible list, but they took out about ~20 marines (he was a foot list). One squad did double 1, then scatter 12", was annoying as it was going to hit about 12 guys lol - but having those (2) henchmen bodies behind them was dead handy as they still didn't give up the KP.

Rest of the list worked really well. DCA finished off some assault marines and a libby, and then rescued a strike squad from a captain (the lone survivor from the DCA after being shot up by the sternguard!). Awesome

  10. I could see that working. They are kind of an odd unit. Despite being scoring and a big threat people don't seem to shoot at them early from what I've seen so far. A couple of units backing up the Purifiers would take some of that chip and charge mentality you have to have with the purifiers doing a bit of everything.

The aco's were quite handy as just "insurance" against the psykers, one unit of 8 (5/3) and one of 7 (5/2) in a chimmy. Though I might "downgrade" that to a rhino - and upgrade the purifiers back up to razor backs - not sure - the purifiers did a lot of damage out of the top hatch.
