Not Going to Blog Wars ... BUT: Sisters!

I'll leave the self righteous and probably horribly boring spiel about 40K and me for another time, all you need to know for this post is that I am the only SON not attending Blog Wars (and that Killswitch loser!) This means a couple of things, one, Venerable is absolutely assuredly not going to have to play me to a draw on Dawn of War Kill Points and potentially ruin his tournament (or watch as me winning the game comes down to better than 50% dice rolling and blowing it). Secondly it means I've not been working or tuning lists, but I thought it might be a fun to look at what I might have played, had models, paint and availability not been an issue.

In this post, I am looking at what probably, barring model availability, would have been my first or second choice. The Sisters of Battle. When I returned from my last hiatus, this was the army I picked up, now on my second hiatus, this is the army, along with one other, that I am hoping gets a significant power boost via 6th Edition rules:

The Sisters of Battle !!

History Lesson - Just play Grey Knights ...

Atreides is probably rolling his eye's right now.

(To skip to the Grey Knight section, just CTRL+F "APPLYING THIS TO GK's" and this will skip you to the list section)

Its funny that when I came back to this hobby (after a 6 month break), I did it with the intent to change my approach to the game. To be more serious about play testing, make better evaluations of my list choices and approach tournament play with more gaming professionalism.Yet I am pretty much on the verge of making the same mistake I made near enough this time last year.

Sisters of Battle .. meet... Band of Brothers!

The dirty word.
Count as.
Here be count as..
"..One army to rule them all! And in the Count As darkness bind them.. "

Sisters are gorgeous models.
Sisters are all metal.
Sisters are frakkin' expensive. (£)

Screw that. Instead, let's just play with space marines as Sisters..
Fluff justification required? No. Frak off..  oh ok then:

Fluff - during the Age of Blood (read your fluff) and crazy ass Vandire Gorge (or something) is head of both the Administorum and Ecclesiarchy (or something) he used an elite force of fanatical warriors to hunt down and slaughter anyone that opposed the word of the Emperor (or Vandire for that matter)..
After Sebastian Thor ended the Age of Blood, he outlawed all "men from bearing arms" in the Eccliasarchy..creating the Sisters Soriatorumumumim and ended the Band of Brothers.. but not before an elite force of crack commandos escaped from a maximum security imperial prison.
Now, if you can find them and if your faith in the light of the Emprah! is waving, maybe you can martyr yourself to ..... the Band of Brothers!
EDIT: The above may not be factually or fictionally correct, but I don't give a fuuuuuuccck! yea boi!

Let me explain...I want to "run the gauntlet" with ALL tournament armies as practice.. Sisters, despite being almost universally denounced as 'utter turd' are still appearing at tournaments and it is very important that you do not allow yourself to be thrown off by random match ups..

There are only about 5 pages in the codex, such a complex and intricate work of art it is.. so there is little difficulty in discerning the 'top' builds.. We've looked at that before (see here) and I basically just wanted to show off a cheeky conversion for the Exorcist Missile Launcher based on the forgeworld model.. as well as a few kit bashed marines (15) I have built to represent the holy tri-fecta of Dominions, Sternguard Vets/HG and Tactical Marines..

Sisters of Battle - just how shit are they?

Well, not that shit.
I downloaded and printed the codex today to get a proper look at Sisters.. I've played against them a few times with Tim at our local gaming club (link here if you are in the Cambridge area) and they have been a real pain.
So, in the spirit of learning to play with the army in order to beat the army (like Paladins here), I am going to build a Sisters army using regular Marines.. after all, they are just women in power armour without the full blown genetic enhancement..
So rhinos and razors (as Immo's) will do and marines with helmets are the order fo the day here.. can't tell man vs woman in all that power armour anyway!

This can be thrown together using any old marines and razors and rhinos that you have.. that is how I plan on doing it.. No, this is not a "real" project, this is just a counts as army that I want to run to learn about an unknown army that actually has some potential..coming out of left field and surprising you to get the win is low, but valid! lol... so it is important to know what even the (internetz) lowliest army can do..

Femme Fatale's - Sisters at 1750

So my last post on Sisters was talking about 2K, which is not something we see much of in UK, and was really just a game to both test the new codex for myself, and help Atreides get in his only game of practice for the 2K tournament all the Son's went to last weekend.

Looking at 1750 I didn't quite want to just chop bits out of the 2000 point list. At 2K I pretty much could get everything I wanted, while not really compromising or being stingy in certain area's. What's important is it gave me a solid indication of the numbers I wanted going into 1750.

A separate information I did take on board was from a text conversation with Atreides and a team speak chat with Killswitch, was talking about Death Cult's. Atreides played against a SoB list at the weekend, and he saw a more maxed out unit of DCA's being used to brutal effectiveness. Both Killswitch and I were talking about how great they were in Grey Knight lists (especially as troops) and really the only unit I enjoyed using out of what was a very boring codex to play with.

Anyway, lets get into the list and move on from there;

Back Slinging Dice ... with Sisters!

Lets cut a long story short. I'm back bitches. Well sort of! I am still undecided as to  how I will be playing (tournaments, casual etc..). Weekly games against Atreides on his new table could be all the gaming I need, with the occasional flurry to say a Blog Wars or a Son's meet up, but certainly I fancy playing a few games.

I've sold my stuff. Balls.

Well that's a lie. I do have plenty of marines ... and in what is a weird twist of fate, its pretty much worked out to be the exact 1750 list, sans a few bikes, of Kirby's infamous "Blood Rodeo" army. Something I deeply have wanted to play. Funny how that works out eh?

However, something more interesting intrigued me.
